A little bit of something for everyone, Buchanan’s Garden Festival celebrates gardens, outdoor living and home improvements.
Nestled along the bank of the James River, dozens of vendors will be set up as part of the Festival’s Show and Sale. Annuals, perennials, trees, bird houses and garden whimsies are a few of the items you may find as you explore vendors booths set up in the Lawn. In addition you will find Handmade Crafts, Local and Regional artists as well as Home and Outdoor Living Vendors complimenting the garden treasures you will find at the event. Additional activities include Live Music, Crafts, Educational Talks featuring guest speakers, a Plein Air Painting Competition, and a full day of fun set in the garden of the historic Wilson Warehouse and the Town Park.
While you are here, you will want to explore our historic Main Street where you will find locally owned shops and restaurants filling buildings dating from the early 1800’s through the nostalgic 1950’s.

Quick Draw Plein Air Competition - APPLICATION COMING SOON
The Buchanan Garden Festival announces the return of the Buchanan, Quick Draw Plein Air Competition. Each participant has two hours to create a unique work of art. After the paintings are completed, they will be displayed on the artists’ easels under the Show Tent from 12:30pm until 3:30pm. During this time, the public will vote for their favorite piece to win the People’s Choice Award.
Additional activities include a Wine Garden featuring a Tasting and Music in the Garden.
In case of inclement weather, an announcement will be made on the Town website and Facebook page to use the alternative Rain Date .
